Healthy Week

Healthy Week is an annual event when all pupils are encouraged to participate in a wider range of physical activities, both in and out of school, as well as learning about how to care for their minds and bodies.

Lessons focus on the benefits of regular exercise, practising good hygiene, following a healthy balanced diet, the importance of sleep and also of maintaining positive mental health.  Pupils are encouraged to share their experiences of sports clubs they attend out of school.

This year, we held a 'Wellbeing Wednesday' when specialist coaches from ImproveIt led sessions on mindfulness and yoga.  Mrs Shepherd (a parent and Zumba instructor) led live online Zumba sessions throughout the day and FE Fitness provided plans for circuit sessions as well as leading an outdoor session for our Reception Class.  Chatteris Tang Soo Do Club provided a video clip to help us learn and practise various techniques.

This half-term, Imogen James has continued to lead lunchtime games including Chaos Tag, Hoop Ball and Physical Pacman as well as teaching hockey skills to pupils in Years 3 and 4.  The pupils in Years 1 and 2 have enjoyed developing a variety of skills through the Rugbytots programme.  Year 4 pupils have received weekly swimming lessons at The Empress Pool in Chatteris; Year 5 will swim again after half-term.

Thank you to Miss Bennett (PE Subject Lead and Year 4 Class Teacher) for organising the week's events and to everyone who supported us in any way.
