Year 5 Assembly - Thursday 24th November 2022
Year 5 shared their learning about Ancient Maya to parents and grandparents. They performed the story of The Chocolate Tree which tells the story about how chocolate was given to the people by the Gods. They ended the assembly with a traditional Spanish song about hot chocolate along with a musical accompaniment.
Parents and grandparents were then invited into the classroom to spend time participating in activities along with their children. They had the opportunity to taste homemade Mayan hot chocolate drink. It was an acquired taste with some parents deciding it may be worthy addition to a ‘Bushtucker Trial!’.
They also worked together in designing a clay tile depicting a Mayan Glyph.
