1st July 2022

This term, our Year 2 children having been learning about The Great Fire of London.

They investigated historical facts including when and how the fire started, how it spread and how it was eventually stopped.  The children both drew and painted scenes of London ablaze.  They wrote diaries in the style of Samuel Pepys and read some extracts to their parents, grandparents and other classes in the audience.

Mr Jones, a parent who was a local fire chief, came into school to talk to the pupils about fire and why it was so intense.

The class also joined an online session with the National Archives and looked at primary sources of evidence such as paintings and artefacts.

An excellent assembly, Year 2 - your costumes looked wonderful!
