Congratulations to Luke who is this year's winner of the school's Chess Tournament.
Once again, Lionel Walden Primary School entered the annual Delancey UK Schools' Chess Challenge, the world's largest chess tournament!
Twenty pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 attended Chess Club during Monday lunchtimes. The tournament consisted of seven rounds and all players scoring seventeen points or more, together with the leading scorers in the different age sections for boys and girls, have qualified for the Megafinals which takes place in Cambridge on 6th May.
Well done to all Chess Club members for exhibiting such sportsmanship throughout the tournament and for encouraging new members to come along and become involved in the game!
Certificates were awarded in Assembly and Luke was presented with the trophy. Good luck to all those playing in the Megafinals!
