Class 4's Visit to Flag Fen

News

4th July 2016

On 4th July, Class 4 headed off towards Peterborough to visit Flag Fen which is recognised as the finest Bronze Age archaeological site in northern Europe.

During the day, we examined various sources of evidence for life in Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age Britain.  We described, compared, identified and discovered what objects tell us about the past, specifically prehistoric people and their landscapes.

We also made our own pots, inspired by prehistoric originals, using tools and materials available in prehistoric times.  We explored the whole site with expert guides and discovered how our ancestors used natural materials for food, medicine and making things.

Our visit to Flag Fen definitely brought our topic work to life!
