A team of staff members (Lionel's Ladies) took part in the twentieth London MoonWalk at the weekend to raise awareness and funds for vital breast cancer charities.

Headteacher, Mrs Barnard-Taylor, together with Miss Atkinson, Miss Bennett, Miss Coulthurst, Mrs Fiore, Mrs Gupta, Mrs McBeath, Mrs Naughton and Mrs Riches had been training for several weeks in preparation for the event which took place this week-end.

They arrived in London on Saturday evening and made their way to Clapham Common where they warmed up and got ready to begin the 26.2 miles at midnight.  The route took them to Battersea Park, along the embankment, past landmarks such as The London Eye, The Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall before returning to Clapham Common.  A particular highlight was walking over Tower Bridge, listening to the dawn chorus and realizing that the new day was breaking and they had made it through the night!  It was a tough challenge walking a whole marathon (after completing several warm-up routines too!) but it was even more challenging managing to stay awake all night.

The team members were successful in completing the Challenge and wish to thank everyone for their support and encouragement over the last three months including sponsorship and the baking of cakes for the fundraising cake stall .  The training was worth it!

As part of the weekly Awards Assembly, the staff showed off their medals - the focus this morning was to demonstrate to pupils the importance of working hard and being determined and resilient, in order to achieve a goal, and how working as a team has a positive impact.
