Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week

12th November 2019

This year, we are all pleased to be taking part in Anti-Bullying Week again.

This initiative is co-ordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and aims to support schools in helping children to understand the meaning of respect and that bullying is a behaviour choice.  Odd Sock Day (12th November) provides opportunities to celebrate differences.  Throughout the week, our pupils will be involved in a range of activities which will focus on friendships, behaviour and conduct and will refer to our Behaviour Policy and Code of Conduct.  Teachers will discuss different scenarios with their pupils and invite them to offer solutions to potential problems.

At our school, our children enjoy playing and socialising with each other during breaks and lunchtimes.  Our older pupils interact positively with our younger pupils and give careful consideration to them whilst running around and playing games.  Occasionally, children may 'fall out' with friends but they are quick to find solutions and resolve any issues.  Within our teaching, through assemblies and during PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) lessons, we cover topics such as 'Getting On and Falling Out' and how to respect each other and our differences.  Our children know what to do and who to speak to, if they are feeling upset or anxious about anything, whether it be at school or at home or involving the internet (e-safety).

We are very pleased with our pupils and the way they display thoughtful manners and courteous behaviour to each other, to staff and to visitors to our school.
