Phonics and Reading Workshop for Parents

11th October 2016
Many parents and grandparents joined children in school and Pre-School this afternoon to learn more about phonics and reading.
They were welcomed by our Headteacher, Mrs Barnard-Taylor, and then received an informative talk by Mrs Riches, our Reception teacher, about speaking and listening, phonics and the early stages of reading.
Everyone then joined in with a whole range of activities, within the Early Years Foundation Stage classrooms and outdoor learning environment, to aid development of phonics and the acquisition of early reading skills.  Parents and children were encouraged to try lots of the activities together at home.
"It was an amazing opportunity to come in and find out about how our granddaughter learns."
"The handouts and information are very helpful as they gave me ideas how I can help at home."
