Safer Internet Day

8th February 2022
Tuesday 8th February is Safer Internet Day and this year’s theme is ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.

All classes will be participating in activities which highlight to pupils the potential dangers of using the internet and what to do if such risks arise.  In school, our internet access has the Local Authority’s filters applied but we still need to exercise caution and make pupils aware of whom to speak to, if they are concerned about anything.  We also refer to internet use at home, the use of mobile telephones and other devices and the accessibility of social media sites and games. The focus, particularly with children in Key Stage 2, will be appropriate use of games, the reasons why age restrictions apply, the dangers of communicating with unknown ‘friends’ and the risks of sharing information and images with others online.

We very much appreciate you regularly discussing internet safety with your children at home to continue to deepen their understanding and awareness.  In school, e-safety is visited regularly and forms an integral part of the curriculum.
