World Book Day
3rd March 2022
This year, World Book Day is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary.
All pupils and staff were invited to come to school wearing pyjamas and/or a dressing gown, together with their favourite bedtime story, or dressed as their favourite book character.
We enjoyed sharing our books and listening to favourite stories. The Pre-School children participated in many activities relating to different stories including 'Don't Wake the Bear Hare!, 'The Rainbow Fish' and Alice in Wonderland'. The Reception Class focused on 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' and wrote invitations, counted story characters and had a tea party with a tiger! They also explored creating tiger patterns.
Year 1 focused on Julia Donaldson stories throughout the week and wrote book reviews. Year 2 focused on the book 'Lost and Found' and wrote character descriptions and made their own books. Year 3 also wrote character descriptions but based them on the character they had come dressed as; they also recreated the corresponding book covers.
Year 4 took part in 'The Masked Reader' and enjoyed solving clues which led to a particular author. They also wrote about the characters from 'Fantastic Mr Fox' from different view points. Year 5 also enjoyed 'The Masked Reader' and had opportunities to share their favourite books and explain why they had chosen to come in a particular costume. Year 6 focused on 'Harry Potter' and designed potions and created different wands and castles. They also wrote book reviews and completed a Book Quiz.
