Year 6 - Working with the Museum of Zoology on a project titled 'The Wild Escape'.

Our Year 6 are working with Roz Wade from the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge on an outreach programme to celebrate World Earth Day.

Roz came to our school and led session 1 outside in our Science garden and grounds. Time was spent looking for all the nature around including plants and animals. We also looked for signs of nocturnal visitors that visit and spent time researching information about them.

Session 2, Wednesday 22nd March, involved visiting the museum in Cambridge. Year 6 spent the day there looking at all the amazing and interesting artefacts on show. They visited the British Bird collection, the insect room and looked for wildlife on the museum site. They found out lots of information relating to 'Help Nature Help Us'. This will help them on their final session (mid March) when Year 6 will be working with a local ceramicist, Louise Beale, to create a sculpture.

We are very grateful to the Museum of Zoology for letting us be part of this project and for taking the time to visit us. We had a lovely time and now have a greater appreciation of the wildlife that can be found in our school grounds.
