Welcome to the Lionel Walden School Association,
The Association was set up to promote good relationships between parents and staff, to raise funds for the benefit of the children of the school and to organise social activities for the children and parents. With funds raised we aim to purchase items that the children might otherwise not have had in school. For instance, in the past we have been able to buy the wooden ‘outdoor classroom’ in the Early Years Outdoor Area, additional Science equipment, musical instruments, sports equipment and a wide range of equipment for use by the pupils at lunchtime.
In recent years, the School Association has provided funds for a projector, screen and sound system for the school hall and have made a significant contribution to the furnishing of the new library area. An exciting outdoor learning area was completed for our Year 1 pupils and an adjoining reading area for use by all pupils during lesson times and breaks and lunchtimes - the LWSA contributed to this and the resources within it. The pupils are delighted with these improvements to our environment - thank you!
Fundraising events have included children’s discos, the Christmas Fair/Breakfast with Santa, the Summer Fair and film nights. However, we are always on the lookout for new fundraising ideas. The committee meets in the evenings at school, approximately once a month. Most parents feel the benefit of greater involvement in school life.
If you have any queries about the Association, please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the committee.
Yours sincerely
Agnas
Chair of the LWSA
