Year 3 Explore Plant Growth with the Growing Tower!
Year 3 have been busy learning all about how plants grow, using ther fantastic growing tower on loan from Peterborough Environment City Trust. This exciting piece of equipment allows pupils to grow a variety of seeds in a vertical, soil-free system that uses water and light to help the plants thrive. It’s a brilliant way to explore science in action and has really brought our learning to life!
Each day, the children carefully monitor the growing tower. They check water levels, observe changes in the plants and measure how much they grow over time. It’s helping them to understand key scientific concepts such as germination, photosynthesis, and the importance of light and nutrients.
Under the guidance of Mrs Naughton, Year 3 have also been discussing the wider benefits of sustainable growing and healthy eating. The children have enjoyed seeing the plants develop and are looking forward to harvesting their crops later in the term. It’s been a fantastic way to blend hands-on learning with classroom science — and the enthusiasm is growing just as fast as the plants!
