Our Pre-School

Our Pre-School

Our Pre-School aims to achieve a happy, relaxed and secure environment for the children to come into. The children will have the opportunity to socialise with their peers and to learn basic skills, which will help them when they enter school. The children will also be familiar with the school buildings and other members of the school staff.

Having a school-based Pre-School has the advantages of building relationships between home and school prior to children reaching school age and means a much easier transition for the children into full-time school.

Children receive five sessions of three hours in length when they are admitted at the start of the term following their third birthday.  It is also possible to have 30 hours of funded hours; we are able to take fee-paying pupils for additional hours.  Please contact the School Office for further information.

The Pre-School group comes under the management and administration of the school.

Our most recent Ofsted Inspection took place in October 2023, and the School was judged as good in many areas including Early Years (Reception and Pre-School).

'Early years provision, including pre-school, is a strength. The exciting environment enables children to develop skills and explore their interests. Children are confident and are encouraged to solve problems and take risks. They follow instructions, know routines and manage themselves well. Children are very well prepared for their transition into Year 1.' - OFSTED, April 2023

Please contact the School Office for further information or to arrange a visit.

Please note that a child who attends our Pre-School is not guaranteed a place at Lionel Walden Primary School. Admission to the school is organised by the Local Authority Admissions Team.
