Year 2 enjoyed spending the day at Burwell House near Soham which has been specifically set up as an educational site to develop learning outside the classroom.
The children enjoyed participating in a range of learning experiences including the Snail Game. This involved the pupils finding questions hidden in the grounds and working out the answers. They built natural shelters for different animals whilst discovering information about the animals and their habitats. Time was spent observing the trees in the grounds and then drawing and making tree faces from clay. Using a map of Burwell House gardens, the children developed their skills of orienteering to move around the grounds and read their map accurately. Finally, we all had fun participating in a game titled 'The Burwell Fox'.
Everyone enjoyed their day - children, staff and many willing parent volunteers!
